On October 8th, 2009, The Dominican Women’s Development Center will be honoring Ms. Mendez with the “Distinguished Woman Award”. The “Distinguished Woman Award” is presented to individuals who embody the mission of the DWDC which bases its programs and events on the understanding that the forces of racism, sexism, classism and other forms of oppression are affecting women.
