Paper Dolls

Paper Dolls announce the re-launch of the highly anticipated Internet reality radio show.

Necessity is the mother of "re-invention" and the Paper Dolls are reinventing themselves. After a change in program distributors the Paper Dolls were faced with the unique challenge of finding another online
distribution channel. In an effort to broaden their listening audience they struck stiletto heaven when they discovered Blog Talk Radio.

"Blog Talk Radio has enabled us to reach a larger audience and also provide us with the technical support that the program was lacking. Admittedly technologically challenged, creator and co-host Dannyell Mitchell was, "thrilled that we found a distribution channel that provided a means for our listeners to revisit their favorite shows, link shows to itunes, and provide LIVE call-ins."

The Paper Dolls radio show is insightful, funny and showcases educated women in a positive and respectful light. “It lets listeners know that while we are serious about our careers and home lives, we also
love to have fun”, said T. Strong who’s company also serves as the Marketing firm for Paper Dolls Media. Each of the four hosts of Paper Dolls are successful women in their own right and hope that the show will
continue to provide support, advice and above all, entertainment while touching the lives of each of their listeners in a optimistic, positive manner.

Paper Dolls returns for their 3rd Season of exciting new shows on Wednesday, June 3rd at 10pm on Blog Talk Radio.

*About the show:*
Predicated on their fifteen-year friendship, Paper Dolls is centered around the lives and viewpoints of creator Dannyell Mitchell and her partners in crime T. Strong, Shannon G., and Atheia Burke with discussions on men, money, sex, power and everything in between – all from a female perspective.

NALEDGE CONSTRUCTS MUSICAL ART WITH “CHICAGO PICASSO”

Naledge, 1/2 of the hip-hop group Kidz In The Hall, is readying his mix CD masterpiece, "Chicago Picasso." Crafted on the streets of the CHI, and encompassing his storied journey over the past couple of years as Naledge helped establish the brand of Kidz In The Hall, he unveils a unique perspective to his hometown. "I wanted to show all aspects of Chicago, not just one sound. For a long time we've seen a specific side of Chicago Rap, but this mix cd provides new perspective."

"Chicago Picasso" contains 20 original tracks by Naledge featuring appearances by Bun B, Chip Tha Ripper, Jay Electronica, Mickey Factz, Mick Luter, Rhymefest, Carlita Durand, Curren$y, J Ivy, Russoul, Doe Boy, GLC & Fooch.

Naledge explains "the point of the mixtape was to open the vault and let the fans in on the wealth of solo material that I have recorded. I look at this mixtape more as a collection of art that I have made over time. Each song is its own original statement and with the help of Timbuck2 and RTC we have made the thoughts behind each of the songs more cohesive."

Naledge goes on to describe collaborations on the Mix CD that truly hit home; "I have worked with some of the most creative people in my city, many of which I have known since childhood and that made this project all that more personal. That includes visual artists, poets, singers and emcees. People included in this proect who aren't from Chicago were either from my time living in St. Louis, or they were people I met recording Kidz In The Hall's "In Crowd" in New York City."

Production on the album includes music by: Double-O, Tha Bizness, Picnic Tyme, Sa Ra Creative Partners, FDNY, Xcel, Analogic, Black Spade, SC, MStacks, Nez & Rio.

Chicago Picasso, with its blended transitions from song to song, flows effortlessly. Naledge proclaims "I wouldn't call this a mixtape so much as an exhibit...hence the name Chicago Picasso. The same way Pablo Picasso created a commissioned statue that has sat downtown in Chicago for years of interpretation; I want this mixtape to float the same way."

Guru Releases 8.0 Lost & Found - May 19th

MAY 19, 2009

On May 19, 2009, legendary emcee Guru (GangStarr, Jazzmatazz) and producer Solar will release their latest collaboration Guru 8.0 Lost & Found(7 Grand Records).“Solar and I have produced three classic albums (Version 7.0: The Street Scriptures, Jazzmatazz Vol. 4 and The Timebomb / Back To The Future). It was necessary for us to follow-up with another classic to keep real hip-hop alive. It’s been lost and needs to find its way. Here at 7 Grand, real hip-hop can still be found. We are keeping it very much alive!" exclaims legendary emcee Guru. "Our new album, Guru 8.0 Lost & Found, produced by Solar is like your GPS navigating you towards a higher place."” Solar adds, “8.0 represents that next level of growth; the next evolution of intelligent hip-hop.Lyrically and production-wise, it’s on another level.”

When it comes to taking hip-hop to the next level, Guru and Solar should know! After selling over 3.5 million records, releasing over 13 albums collectively worldwide as the front man for the revered Gangstarr, Guru, become the first artist to fuse hip-hop with live jazz, influencing the creation of Acid-Jazz and Neo-Soul sub-genres. An accomplished producer himself, Solar’s production discography includes the creation of tracks for Grammy Award winning artist and nominees like Damien Marley, Common, Caron Wheeler, David Sanborn, Dionne Farris, Angie Stone, Talib Kweli, Jean Grae, Styles P, Slum Village, Blackalicious, Zion I, Aceyalone, and The legendary B- Real.

While Jazzmatazz fans are used to a number of outside collaborations on Guru and Solar’s previous works, Guru’s 8.0 Lost and Found, keeps it all in the 7 Grand family featuring artists from its roster: K. Born, Highpower, and Doo Wop with the exception of UK Soul Singer, Omar, who experiments vocally with the vocoder on “Ride.” The production on Guru 8.0 Lost and Found ranges greatly as Solar put his unique twist on a variety of styles from the classic hip-hop feel “Best Of My Years” to “Fast Lane,” a southern hip-hop inspired track that showcases Solar’s ability to rework southern bounce into his own playful creation. Usually behind the production console, Solar makes his first ever appearance as an emcee on “After Time,” an experience that the native New Yorker (not to be confused with Parisian MC Solaar) calls a “natural evolution.” Stretching sonically even further is “Divine Rule,” a throwback to hip-hop’s early beginnings when emcees used to rhyme over disco breaks. Guru speeds his flow up a notch for this song, proving he can still go toe to toe, flow to flow with anybody in the game.

While 8.0 experiments with everything from straight ahead hip-hop to disco and southern bounce, Guru is quick to point out that 8.0 isn’t another edition of the Jazzmatazz series. “This is not hip-hop jazz,” explains Guru. “This is straight-up hip-hop elevated to a higher plateau, so it shouldn’t be compared to the Jazzmatazz series. The jazzier side is a part of who I am as an entertainer, but doesn’t define who I am as an artist or as a lyricist.”

Together as business partners and co-founders of their own imprint, 7 Grand Records, Guru and Solar are creating a new blueprint for independent labels while elevating the art-form to a higher plateau. Their latest accomplishment, Guru 8.0 Lost and Found, is the Map quest that that lovers of real hip-hop have been searching for to find their way. So if looking for hip-hop’s new coordinates, turn off your radio, pop in Guru 8.0 Lost and Found, and you will find your way indeed.

ELECTRIK RED REVEAL 'HOW TO BE A LADY' ON DEF JAM DEBUT; SET FOR MAY 26 RELEASE

High-voltage girl-power foursome Electrik Red are ready to make the leap from next-big-thing status to next big thing. The buzz on the group – from press and blogs, to industry, to fans – has been building steadily for months. Taking a short break from rehearsing for their opening slot on Lil Wayne’s tour, the ladies recently debuted the new video for their sultry single “So Good” on BET’s 106 & Park. A remix and remix video featuring Lil Wayne soon followed. Now, Electrik Red is ready to unleash their ferociously sexy debut albumHOW TO BE A LADY VOLUME 1 on May 26th.

Written, produced and recorded in a Las Vegas studio – in just two weeks - by the Grammy Award-winning team of The-Dream and Tricky Stewart, whose credits include #1 hits for Rihanna (“Umbrella”), Mariah Carey (“Touch My Body”), J. Holiday (“The Bed,” “Suffocate”), and Beyoncé (“Single Ladies”), How To Be A Lady brings an ultra-catchy mix of electronic R&B, dirty funk and Prince-inspired sex jams. On steamy tracks like “We F*ck You” and “Freaky Freaky,” the girls let their hair all the way down, but the bass-and-synth-driven single “So Good,” the old-school romp “Friend & Lover” and party-starting “Drink In My Cup,” show different sides of Electrik Red’s musical personality: Seductive. Coy. Charming. Wild.

Sweet and spicy Electrik Red – New Yorkers Binkie (Kyndra Reevey) and Lesley Lewis, and Toronto friends Sarah Rosete and Naomi Allen – have been together since 2004, when Naomi joined the fold. Prior to that, Binkie and Lesley (graduates of Manhattan’s LaGuardia High School of Performing Arts) were regulars on the school dance circuit. They met Sarah as dancers in the 2001 video for Mary J. Blige’s “Family Affair.” The four worked together as backup dancers for Mariah Carey, Usher and Ciara.

The quartet cut their first demo in 2005. “After five years of dancing in every thing from Miller Lite commercials to BET Specials” (as Blender reported), they finally had their chance to audition for Antonio ‘L.A.’ Reid, Chairman, Island Def Jam Music Group. Papers were signed the very next day, and Electrik Red traveled to Las Vegas, where they recorded their debut album in a fast two weeks with The-Dream and Tricky Stewart. Brassy and risky, aggressive and forthright, the four beauties are ready to roll. “”We hope [we inspire] other women to just go for it,” Naomi summed up in the pages of XXL.

The Time Has Come…the Jacka is set to release his 3rd highly anticipated solo album Tear Gas

06.16.09, a day marked with symbolism and remembrance for one of the greatest Hip Hop icons, the birthday of Tupac Shakur, will also serve as breaking ground for one of the most anticipated rap albums on the West Coast. Following last year's successful underground release of “The Street Album,” which debuted at #91 on Billboard Top 100 - the Jacka will debut his 3rd solo album entitled Tear Gas (Artist Records/SMC) this summer.

2008 was an exceptional year for the Jacka that included a #1 single on Bay Area radio stations and an Ozone Award. This was just a preview of what was to come in 2009, the Jacka is ready to take over the nation with his biggest release to date. Tear Gas is being dubbed this year's blockbuster album, featuring a host of Hip Hop favorites from coast to coast. Appearances include Freeway, Paul Wall, Cormega, E-40, Devin the Dude, and Mistah F.A.B. - with Production from 12 different producers including RobLo, Traxamillion, and Bedrock to create a feel all his own. The first single “Glamorous Lifestyle,” with it's commanding horns, Jacka's signature melodic flow and cult favorite Andre Nickatina is nothing short of stellar. Other highlighted tracks include the album's opener, “Summer,” the Mistah F.A.B assisted "Callin' Me Back" and “They Don't Know” featuring Freeway.

The hype surrounding this project has created a lane to put the Jacka at the top of the industry spotlight. XXL.com joins in on the Jacka excitement, “He's ambitious on his tracks and brings you into his world to make you feel his mood just like 50 in his heyday". - Infamous O. Will Bronson, VP of A&R-SMC Recordings, chimes in, "Jacka is one of the most important artists to our region right now. The anticipation for Tear Gas is three years in the making and if I can say one thing to those who have been waiting- the hype is real. He delivered the album you've been waiting for".
Jacka agrees, "It's my best work so far… For hella different reasons. If you're into good music and like to tune all the way in, Tear Gas is one of the dopest, if not THE dopest shit to come out".

As the West Coast eagerly awaits this release, the chaos has already caused industry warnings - it's about to blow.
“Glamorous Lifestyle,” the first single off the album, will be available for download and ringtones May 3rd. Please find the single and album cover attached.

EMINEM TEAMS UP WITH STEWIE GRIFFIN TO HOST "ANIMATION DOMINATION" SUNDAY, MAY 17, ON FOX

Grammy Award winner Eminem joins FAMILY GUY's Stewie Griffin to host ANIMATION DOMINATION Sunday, May 17 on FOX. The evening will feature interstitials voiced by and featuring an animated version of the hip-hop superstar.

Fans should tune in for an exclusive surprise MySpace Music announcement they won't want to miss and visit http://www.myspace.com/music that evening for additional details.

"It was a thrill to work with Stewie," said Eminem about the youngest member of the Griffin clan. "I'm a big fan of talking babies and their humor."

On working with Eminem, Stewie said "I was just about to meet him, but after I shook hands with his stylist, his assistant, his lawyer, his bodyguard, his other bodyguard, his photographer, his manager, his hanger-on, his flower girl, his driver, his videographer, his notary, his historian, his her-storian, his texter and his own greased-up deaf guy, I got the swine flu."

On the season finale of FAMILY GUY airing Sunday, May 17 (9:00-9:30 PM ET/PT), Peter has his palm read by a psychic who reveals that he had a fascinating past life in the 17th century as Griffin Peterson, a dignified gentleman from the newly founded colony of Quahog who vied for the love of Lady Redbush. It was a time of great love and adventure where King Stewart reigned supreme, the smartest dog in the room was the court jester, army lieutenants were merely boys and even old England loved "How I Met Your Mother" (Neil Patrick Harris, Josh Radnor and Jason Segel guest-voice).

Eminem's fifth full-length album, "Relapse," is set to be released on May 19. The album's debut single, "Crack a Bottle," was released in February and set a first week record for digital sales at the time, while the first official single and video, "We Made You," debuted in April. To date, Eminem has sold more than 75 million albums worldwide. His previous studio album, "Encore," reached No. 1 and dominated the charts in late 2004. The Grammy-nominated disc was certified quadruple-platinum, generated four Top 40 Hot 100 hits and has sold more than 11 million copies. In October 2008, Eminem published "Eminem: The Way I Am," a compilation of thoughts, stories and memorabilia that entered The New York Times Best-Seller List at No. 11.

FAMILY GUY is a 20th Century Fox Television production. Seth MacFarlane is creator/executive producer, Mark Hentemann and Steve Callaghan are executive producers/show-runners and David A. Goodman, Chris Sheridan and Danny Smith are executive producers.

Dear Mama;

You know my heart never left home

Even though that I'm grown with a child of my own now

Mama, Im still your baby boy

And I ain't have no toys

You're what gave me joy

Ma-you really played your part well

From infant to manhood

from school to jail

And then when my pamper was soiled

Number 13 out of 15 kids, I can't be spoiled

This is just words of encouragement

To my guardian angel, that was heaven sent

Ma-  I remember you and papa fights

Banging round at night

You sayin I gotta get right

And how you worked on your sick bed

Crocheting, making blankets & bedspreads

In the kitchen slaving over hot stoves, and um

Me and my older brother share the same clothes, and um

I remember when you used to say "If I ever go to jail, thats where Ima stay"

But um

You was at every court date

With The Bible in your hand trying to preach me straight and I

Just wanna tell you thanks

Your baby boy came up and I'm holding rank

And I know Ain't no dollar sign can pay for your bother

But I just wanna tell you that I love you Barbara

Mother - You know you mean the world to me, can't picture living my life without my

Mother -  Your everything I dream to be, there's no way that I could ever forget my

Mother -  So anything left to say, I hope you hear my heart, they be telling me let it go

Can't Ignore it, So I'm stuck painting this picture of my Family Portrait

I'm like Eddie Griffen with a Dysfunctional Family

My nieces and nephews, I love em, that's my family - Yeah

And they loving the kiddo, plus the fact that I'm rapping always helps me a little -Yeah

Cause I remember the days, of running astray, running a trays, thinking of how to get paid

but all I got was days in court, nights in systems, shop the whole weekend I'm with em,- True

It's funny now they show me they bundles, while we doin Play Station, now they calling me Uncle - See

So I tell em bout street life as I knew it, we talk about music, they say they love how I do it - Word

I don' judge em, I love em, mess with em I'll put something hot in anybody for either one of em - Ya Heard

Little Soldier what's poppin today, I still recall the first time I laid eyes on your face

Your Momma brought you into this world, my first born was a baby boy and not a girl

Now Yellow one kicks in the Jersey, eyes red from purple and hershy

Hasheem's on the football team, Elamaya's only 2 but her attitude is mean -oooh

Jahari's (Tek's son) he's the King of the Throne and me, I'm Elameem and I'm Brooklyn's Own

Mother - You know you mean the world to me, can't picture living my life without my

Mother -  Your everything I dream to be, there's no way that I could ever forget my

Mother -  So anything left to say, I hope you hear my heart, they be telling me let it go

Can't Ignore it, So I'm stuck

Ms. Drama interview AlBe Back (ATL)

Raekwon Gushes That 'The Wait Is Finally Over' For Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2

Ready to give his worldwide following what they’ve been waiting for, the Wu-Tang Clan’s rhyme slinger extraordinaire Raekwon is set to return this summer with Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2.

Raekwon, whose 1995 platinum classic Only Built 4 Cuban Linx was universally hailed as a rap classic and has sold more than 1.1 million units in the US, according to Nielsen Soundscan, has signed a distribution deal with EMI Label Services for his ICEH20 Records label to release Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2 in the US and Canada later this summer. EMI Label Services will also provide Raekwon with additional radio promotion support and licensing and synchronization services.

“The wait is finally over,” Raekwon says. “Words cannot describe how extremely happy I am to work with EMI Music to put out my album.”

Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2 buzz single and video “The New Wu” features fellow Wu-Tang Clan members Method Man and Ghostface Killah and is getting mixshow airplay at radio stations across the country, including Hot 97 in New York. The album features a spectacular line-up of guest appearances and producers: The RZA, Dr. Dre, J Dilla, The Wu-Tang Clan, Jadakiss, Busta Rhymes, Bun B and The Game, among others.

"We are thrilled to have a chance to work with the legendary Raekwon,” said Dominic Pandiscia, Senior Vice President and General Manager, EMI Label Services. “He has had a massive impact on the history of Hip Hop and Urban music overall. Everyone at EMI is excited to be working on this record and continuing his legacy.”

Rap fans were mesmerized by Raekwon’s distinctive brand of street slanguistics when he emerged as a member of the Wu-Tang Clan. The Staten Island, New York rap group’s debut album, 1993’s Enter The Wu-Tang Clan (36 Chambers), was a landmark collection that introduced the group’s signature blend of kung-fu inspired reality rap. Raekwon established himself as a solo star in 1995 with the release of Only Built 4 Cuban Linx. The mafia minded album, which peaked at No. 2 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Album chart, unfolded like a cinematic crime caper, with such imaginative songs as “Criminology,” “Incarcerated Scarfaces” and “Ice Cream” propelling the album to platinum status.

Raekwon’s second album, 1999’s Immobilarity, was certified gold. To date, Raekwon has career sales of more than 1.6 million units in the US, according to Nielsen Soundscan.

Now, with the impending release of Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2, Raekwon is ready to release his second masterpiece. “It’s been a long time coming,” he says, “and I’ve put my blood, sweat and tears into making this classic album for my fans.”

Big Cat Records Releases Gucci Mane's 1st All New Music LP In 2 Years - Murder Was The Case In Stores May 12th

Widely known and respected indie recording label, Big Cat Records puts in its bid to seize control of '09 with its May 12th release of Gucci Mane's newest album aptly entitled, "Murder Was the Case."

Armed to the teeth with hot producers, amazing singers, chart topping rappers, and an undeniable success formula, Big Cat Records is now poised to put the death squeeze on 2009 with "Murder Was the Case", Gucci's first all new material LP in two years. The latest project contains 14 blazing tracks and promises to be his best album yet. "Gucci Mane is at the height of his career," proclaims LP Co-Executive Producer and Big Cat Records President Melvin "Mel Man" Breeden. "We are pleased to be instrumental in bringing his best work to date to his loyal fans!"

Gucci Mane's hit single "Stoopid" has already swept the airwaves with over 700 spins and #70 debut on Billboard's "Rap Singles". Despite Gucci's untimely incarceration, Big Cat kept it moving by launching an animated music video for "Stoopid" in response to the overwhelming demand/success of the single. According to Celebrity Publicist Trea Davenport (treaday.com). "The anthem soaked CD also contains head-banging tracks like, "Runnin-Back Gittin Fat", which could potentially equal "Stoopid" in fame. With sizzling hot producers like; Zaytoven, DJ Speedy, Melman, and the Produsirz, Murder Was the Case will keep trunks rattling".

Even with Gucci Mane's legal woes and controversial past statements made against Big Cat Records, the label continues to put the business before the beef and put out hit after hit after. Trap House, Hard to Kill, Trap-A-Thon, and Hood Classics have all been released on Big Cat Records, and have all been extremely successful. Thanks to the unstoppable hustle of Big Cat Records and the creativity of the urban storyteller himself, Gucci Mane has become a household name, with his catchy lyrics, addictive chants and soaring record sales.

The mission of Family Day is to provide positive and inspiring programming for an often forgotten demographic, what organizers call Hip-Hop Families.

Wes Jackson, Festival Executive Director and President of Brooklyn Bodega, "Now that Hip-Hop is over thirty years old there are Moms and Dads who grew up on Rakim and Slick Rick. 'My Melody' and 'Children's Story' are our classics. We were the original B-Boys and B-Girls. Now we are homeowners, car owners, taxpayers, business owners, and parents. We grew up with Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder as our soundtrack. Now, A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul and Mary J. Blige are the songs my kids hear around the house. We are a Hip-Hop Family. What is happening to Hip-Hop now is what happened to Rock-N-Roll in the 80's. As the baby boomers aged, so did Rock N Roll culture and business. The same maturation is happening in Hip-Hop. Brooklyn Bodega, Family Day and the Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival, as a whole, is about ushering this new era. Family Day is our direct appeal to this growing segment of the Hip-Hop population."

LETOYA EMBRACES FANS WITH ‘LADY LOVE’

Having established herself as a chart-topping, platinum-certified artist, songwriter and entrepreneur, LeToya is ready to make her next move on June 23 with the release of the singer’s sophomore album “Lady Love” on Capitol Records.

Already shaping up as the female anthem of 2009 is the album’s lead single, “Not Anymore.” Written and co-produced by Grammy Award-winning artist Ne-Yo, the track pulsates with empowering determination as LeToya’s soulful voice reaches out to females who are “fed up” with straying boyfriends. “That drama … I don’t want it anymore,” she declares. “I dried my eyes and realize/I deserve somebody who treats me right.”

Out the box, “Not Anymore” finished No.1 Most Added at Media Base. Among the 42 urban stations that have added the song include such powerhouses as, WJLB/Detroit, KBXX/ Houston, KBFB/Dallas, WPEG/Charlotte, WWPR/New York and WOWI/Norfolk.

Showcasing a more powerful LeToya, “Not Anymore” is a fitting next chapter in Letoya’s evolving career. A founding member of the multi-platinum group Destiny’s Child, LeToya forged her solo status in 2006 with the emotional ballad “Torn.” The No. 1 urban mainstream hit about the travails of a strained relationship spent a record-breaking 24 days at No. 1 as the most requested video on BET’s “106 & Park.”

It also paved the way to gold- and platinum-certified success for the singer’s self-titled debut album. Featuring production by Bryan-Michael Cox and Jermaine Dupri, the set bowed at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts. LeToya went on to garner accolades as Top Songwriter of 2006 by ASCAP and one of AOL’s best new artists that same year.

The video for “Not Anymore’ was shot in Los Angeles under the direction of Bryan Barber. In addition to Ne-Yo, “Lady Love” boasts production contributions by (Tank, Oak, Bei-Maejor, Neff-U). LeToya also makes cameo appearances on albums by two of her label-mates: “Somebody Else” from Avant’s recently released self-titled album and “Love Rollercoaster” from MIMS’ upcoming sophomore set “Guilt.”

Born and raised in Houston, LeToya (née Luckett) sang her first solo in church at the tender age of five. After meeting Beyoncé Knowles in elementary school, the pair later joined forces as members of Destiny’s Child. During LeToya’s seven-year stint, she co-wrote two of the group’s gold singles, “Bills Bills Bills” and “Say My Name,” and appeared on the group’s breakthrough album, “The Writing’s on the Wall.”

Not only is she a talented singer, LeToya’s also a successful entrepreneur. She owns and operates two upscale women’s boutiques called Lady Elle. Now in its sixth year, the clothing store is located in Houston’s Uptown Park shopping center.

This summer, Luckett will co-star in her first feature film debut; The Preacher’s Kid and is set to begin pre-production on a comedy from Lionsgate Films.
