ELECTRIK RED REVEAL 'HOW TO BE A LADY' ON DEF JAM DEBUT; SET FOR MAY 26 RELEASE

High-voltage girl-power foursome Electrik Red are ready to make the leap from next-big-thing status to next big thing. The buzz on the group – from press and blogs, to industry, to fans – has been building steadily for months. Taking a short break from rehearsing for their opening slot on Lil Wayne’s tour, the ladies recently debuted the new video for their sultry single “So Good” on BET’s 106 & Park. A remix and remix video featuring Lil Wayne soon followed. Now, Electrik Red is ready to unleash their ferociously sexy debut albumHOW TO BE A LADY VOLUME 1 on May 26th.

Written, produced and recorded in a Las Vegas studio – in just two weeks - by the Grammy Award-winning team of The-Dream and Tricky Stewart, whose credits include #1 hits for Rihanna (“Umbrella”), Mariah Carey (“Touch My Body”), J. Holiday (“The Bed,” “Suffocate”), and Beyoncé (“Single Ladies”), How To Be A Lady brings an ultra-catchy mix of electronic R&B, dirty funk and Prince-inspired sex jams. On steamy tracks like “We F*ck You” and “Freaky Freaky,” the girls let their hair all the way down, but the bass-and-synth-driven single “So Good,” the old-school romp “Friend & Lover” and party-starting “Drink In My Cup,” show different sides of Electrik Red’s musical personality: Seductive. Coy. Charming. Wild.

Sweet and spicy Electrik Red – New Yorkers Binkie (Kyndra Reevey) and Lesley Lewis, and Toronto friends Sarah Rosete and Naomi Allen – have been together since 2004, when Naomi joined the fold. Prior to that, Binkie and Lesley (graduates of Manhattan’s LaGuardia High School of Performing Arts) were regulars on the school dance circuit. They met Sarah as dancers in the 2001 video for Mary J. Blige’s “Family Affair.” The four worked together as backup dancers for Mariah Carey, Usher and Ciara.

The quartet cut their first demo in 2005. “After five years of dancing in every thing from Miller Lite commercials to BET Specials” (as Blender reported), they finally had their chance to audition for Antonio ‘L.A.’ Reid, Chairman, Island Def Jam Music Group. Papers were signed the very next day, and Electrik Red traveled to Las Vegas, where they recorded their debut album in a fast two weeks with The-Dream and Tricky Stewart. Brassy and risky, aggressive and forthright, the four beauties are ready to roll. “”We hope [we inspire] other women to just go for it,” Naomi summed up in the pages of XXL.
