Jimmy Crockett Rolls in as the "Cadillac Man" with Debut CD Release

Recording Artist
Jimmy Crockett

Rolls in as the
"Cadillac Man"

with Debut CD Release
Jimmy Crockett "Cadillac Man"
Sacramento, CA - When Jimmy Crockett strolls in the room and starts to strummin' keys and slanging grooves, it's like he's taking us on a ride in a vintage automobile and we are cruising 'round the highway bend. We can't help but catch the vibe and just ride right along with him. Serving up an eclectic collection of silky vocals over tracks that deliciously blend jazz, rock and funk infused R&B, his debut release, "Cadillac Man" is a trunk full of gems, hearkening seventies sensibilities. He pleasures our old school memories with rhythms that recall Average White Band meets Steely Dan.

"Cadillac Man" is cool. It's funky. And it's groovin'!

Just who is this Jimmy Crockett, penning songs that melt hearts and stir souls with the sound of his voice and his laid back storytelling abilities? Simply put, Jimmy Crockett is a burgeoning lyrical "magician" and keyboardist with a voice as soothing as hot chocolate on an ice cold winter's night. Recently nominated by the Northern California Chapter of the Black Music Association & Academy of America for an 8th Annual Sacramento "Sounds Of Soul Music" Award in the categories Best Male R&B Performer, Best New Artist, and Entertainer of the Year, it becomes apparent this Cadillac Man is just getting started!

Crockett began honing his vocal and songwriting skills in his youth, and wrote his "first real song" in high school. "I was always making up little melodies since I can remember. I started to add some words to my jingles when I was about 10," reveals Crockett.

Attributing his musical interests to his mother, Crockett stated, "My mother always had music in our house; Nat King Cole, The Mills Brothers and Mahalia Jackson." At just 12 years old, Crockett was compelled to take piano lessons being heavily influenced by his favorite musical wonder, Ramsey Lewis.

A compelling and authentic artist with a reputation for "telling it like it is," Crockett's inspiration for writing "Cadillac Man" came about during his brief stint as a gambler a few years ago. Captivated by gambler's lives, Crockett (who has since retired from the profession) began writing about experiences that were close to home and his heart. His "Tie with Me," "Bartender Lady," "Policeman," and "Betty's Song," are musical reflections of his past. With authentic lyrics and enchanting rhythms, Crockett's incomparable musical perfection is further realized on the blues tinged track "She's Still Comin' Back," the rockin' "Cadillac Man" and the breezy "Fly Away."

While Crockett writes all the songs, sings, and plays keys, he is joined by his band members Jerry Jennings on guitar, Nick Eble on bass, Jimmy Bagshaw on drums and Marcelled Maldonado serving up additional vocals.

Crockett hopes to continue to create music that will inspire and have a positive impact on his steadily rising global fan base. His core message is, "Do the right thing and be a good person." Not bad advice coming from a "Cadillac Man" who's been there and knows!

ABOUT JAZZY

It’s not hard to divide the world of R&B/Pop artists into categories. In fact, there are really only two—there is JAZZY and then there’s everybody else. Still, one must choose their words carefully when describing JAZZY. Talented? Beautiful? Captivating? Without a doubt. However; all of these words fail to capture the many different sides of JAZZY which is why she poured her entire self into BEAUTY AND THE BEAT, a compilation of her latest songs set for release May 5th 2010.

Coming off Kanye West’s GLOW IN THE DARK European tour where she assisted Melanie Fiona with background vocals, JAZZY has since created an international fan base with her distinctive R&B sound and her unique soulful style.

As if her voice isn't seductive enough, JAZZY is also a successful songwriter working with longtime collaborator Bobbie-Cheri Gobert. Together they are known as the highly talented and sought after writing team "The Write Chix". In 2007 “The Write Chix” received their biggest break when a mutual friend of theirs and R&B superstar Chris Brown introduced JAZZY’S music to Brown while on tour. He immediately recognized her talent and quickly arranged a meeting with his manager Tina Davis while in Los Angeles. A lifelong friend of Ms. Davis and veteran music publisher, LaRonda Sutton sat in on the meeting. Soon thereafter, The Write Chix were the first songwriters signed to Foxx/King Music, Jamie Foxx’s Publishing Company.

NEFEW ENLIST DJ GREEN LANTERN FOR NEW PROJECT

DJ GREEN LANTERN COLLABORATES WITH NEFEW FOR NEW PROJECT

After the rampant success of their Antihero Begins mixtape released in the Spring, Hip-Hop duo, Nefew knew the pressure would be on to equal if not better the buzz that their 2DopeBoyz and Puma presented project caused. Having been hard at work since April on new concepts and ideas for their follow up, Polemikk and PA Double have aligned themselves with a strong supporting cast for their sophomore free download, MAN VS MANY.

With the guidance, direction and assistance of world renowned DJ, Green Lantern, Nefew know they are in capable hands on this project. Opting to work with an eclectic bunch of musicians, producers and performers is a rarity for the European based duo, but was embraced for MAN VS MANY. These unions continue to showcase their capabilities in creating music, solidifying their name and brand in Hip-Hop.

“It’s definitely a privilege to work with Green Lantern on our second official mixtape. Hip Hop and music fans can look forward to a rap album with epic production and a lot of depth. The concept behind “Man vs. Many” is simple: Be yourself and don’t follow trends. If you’re talented and you’re willing to work hard for what you believe in, you’ll get there, although you might face a lot of conflicts along the way, mostly with yourself. ”- POLEMIKK

“This mixtape is going to be enormous, much stronger than the antihero begins and I’m very happy with the selection of collaborations. I don’t believe in randomly picking artists just to have a feature to generate a buzz. The features we picked are artists that follow similar musical values, and you’ll soon find out that we achieved a perfect match. This is a great opportunity for us to really to expand and show the world who Nefew is and what we stand for.”PA DOUBLE

MAN VS MANY will be available in September and will compliment what NEFEW have been up to in between their two 2010 releases. Relentless work in the studio combined with intricate planning for this release will see this musical chapter as welcomed, as it is influential.

Brian Culbertson To Release 12th CD

R&B/JAZZ MULTI-INSTRUMENTALIST BRIAN CULBERTSON TO RELEASE TWELFTH CD - XII

Perennial Chart-Topping Keyboard King Unites Stylistically Varied All-Star Cast For His Latest Multi-Format Masterpiece

Early Highlights - "Skies Wide Open" Single Featuring Avant; #1 Most Added First Week Out; Debuts On BDS Adult R&B Chart #22; Debuts On Mediabase Urban AC At #23; #2 Most Increased Record At The Format

CD cover

Los Angeles, CA (BlackNews.com) -- On July 20, 2010, chart-topping musician Brian Culbertson will release the twelfth album of his multi-faceted career, simply titled XII, on GRP Records.

Culbertson commemorates his twelfth release with 12 new songs that continue to reflect his broad-ranging musicality and mastery of intimate moods. The titles swing from the rapturous metaphorically rich love ballad "Skies Wide Open" (featuring R&B singing star Avant), the sexy bedroom baby-maker "I Wanna Love You" (featuring singer/guitarist Ray Parker Jr.), the strings-kissed dance jam "Another Love" (featuring 21st century soul man Kenny Lattimore) and the cool club persuader "Out On the Floor" (featuring balladeer supreme Brian McKnight) to the slammin' attitude jam "Don't U Know Me By Now" (featuring powerhouse Faith Evans), a journey through the many moods of being entitled "That's Life" (featuring Earl Klugh who co-penned it along with fellow Detroit native Parker and Culbertson), a think piece on the meaning of it all titled "I Don't Know" (featuring spoken word enchantress Natalie Stewart of Floetry), and an all-out Go-Go party jam titled "Feelin' It" (featuring the man who put Washington, D.C. Go-Go Music on the map, Chuck Brown in addition to a comedic appearance by Sinbad). Four more instrumentals round out the album, including the lovely dreamscape "Waiting for You" and the incredibly funky "Stay Wit It" on which he takes a rippin' Moog solo.

It was while in the act of Twittering about the making of his latest creation that Culbertson decided to simply title the project XII (Twelve). "I was just noticing that there are a lot of ‘12s' in my life," Brian muses... "I was born on January 12, I've been living in Los Angeles for 12 years now and have been married to my beautiful wife Michelle for 12 years. There are 12 notes on the piano... and it was at the age of 12 that I knew I was going to be a professional musician."

As he started work on the album, Brian thought of yet another way to make his fans a part of the creative process in a brilliant extension of the DVD he created last year, Live From The Inside. "I decided to create a video blog to give fans a chance to watch me make the album from start to finish. Almost daily, they could watch me execute and explain every step of the process, plus see me in sessions with all of my amazingly talented friends. The response has been phenomenal with many people tuning in every day to see what I'm up to. To ‘Twitter' about the project, I labeled the topic #BCXII. Someone said that would be a great title for the album, so it stuck."

Culbertson's steady stream of top albums and hit singles should come as no surprise since he began playing the piano at age 8, which he went on to master, along with the trombone, bass and drums. Growing up, he was influenced by heavy players ranging from Earth, Wind & Fire to The Brecker Brothers to James Brown.

After studying at DePaul University in Chicago, Brian released his self-produced album, Long Night Out (1994). Since that time, Culbertson has recorded on and/or produced over 25 chart-topping records on the contemporary jazz charts in musical styles that have moved from R&B throw downs to New Age lullabies. That rare eclecticism also informs the cornucopia of styles that animate this latest work, XII.

Culbertson produced all of the tracks on XII – nine alone, three in collaboration with the prolific Rex Rideout. The first single for Urban AC radio is the vocal ballad featuring Avant, "Skies Wide Open" (co-produced with Rideout) while the first single for smooth jazz radio is the Earl Klugh feature, "That's Life."

In addition to gearing up for the much anticipated twelfth title XII, Culbertson is bringing his new tour to cities around the world all summer long (including stops throughout the U.S., Japan, Germany, England and a return to the Capitol Jazz SuperCruise) and at year's end he'll join the "Dave Koz Christmas Tour" (along with Candy Dulfer and Jonathan Butler).

XII (track listing):

1) Feelin' It (Featuring Chuck Brown)

2) Another Love (Featuring Kenny Lattimore)

3) It's Time

4) Out on the Floor (Featuring Brian McKnight)

5) Waiting for You

6) Stay Wit It

7) Skies Wide Open (Featuring Avant)

8) Forever

9) Don't U Know Me By Now (Featuring Faith Evans)

10) That's Life (Featuring Earl Klugh)

11) I Wanna Love You (Featuring Ray Parker Jr.)

12) I Don't Know

Rhymefest "El Che" Red Cassette Tape Exclusive Release

RhymefestRhymefest via last.fm

As Rhymefest prepares to unleash his highly anticipated El Che on June 8, 2010, the emcee’s new indie label, dN|Be Entertainment, has just announced that a limited quantity of red cassettes will be released for the album. Dubbed the “Red Tape,” the cassette will feature all 16 tracks from Rhymefest’s long awaited sophomore effort. Motivated by classic LPs from Hip Hop’s Golden Era, dN|Be Entertainment asserts the red cassettes are necessary to bridge the gap between Hip Hop’s heyday and El Che.

In addition to the collector’s edition red tape, a transparent, prison-safe cassette will also be released by the label. Realizing that many revolutionaries are unfortunately locked behind bars, Rhymefest hopes to touch the lives of society’s sometimes forgotten soldiers with El Che. The clear cassettes will feature no screws and are approved for usage by inmates in most prisons.

The “Red Tape” and the clear prison cassette will be offered exclusively through the interactive website, ElCheTheMovement.com. Pre-orders for the cassette, CD, and digital versions of El Che are currently available on the site. Orders are guaranteed to be fulfilled through ElCheTheMovement.com on June 8th. In the meantime, Fans are encouraged to connect with Rhymefest through the website’s blog, videos, streaming music, mixtape downloads, and social networking links to Facebook and Twitter (@Rhymefest).
