AUDIO: Heron Gibran - Run Joe featuring Yazarah
http://www.zshare.net/audio/63619882c4b64eba/
Who is Heron Gibran?
As of right now, there are more Hip Hop acts than Hip Hop artists
in the industry. More rappers are going for the quick buck and instead
of longevity. Gimmicks have taken precedent over craft. Dance moves
are more valued that substance. Hip Hop is in need of a real artist
with integrity. Harnessing the gift to create images with words and a
paintbrush, Heron Gibran is set to bring something new to the game.
A New York native, Heron Gibran moved to Washington DC at an early
age and found the city to be a great influence on his music. As East
Coast music dominated DC radio Gibran reflects &the main music was
Go-Go so the music from Rap-A-Lot and Dr. Dre where they used live
instrumentation was the most popular amongst my peers. Heron Gibran
briefly ran a front man for a Go-Go band before purchasing a Gemini
sampler at the age of 14 to start making his own music. Also
possessing a need to express himself through imagery, Gibran attended
DCs world-renowned high school, Duke Ellington School of the Arts,
majoring in the Visual Arts program. This was the beginning stage of
him become Hip Hops renaissance man.
New York gave me the lyricism and DC gave me the funk says Gibran.
As an emerging emcee he began to roll with the locals crews like the
Amphibians and Freestyle Union. He performed regularly around DC Hip
Hops epicenter, U Street aka Black Broadway. Influenced by the likes
of The Dogg Pound and Hieroglyphics, this is where Gibran began to
formulate his sound. Gibran has said that one of the most influential
artists on his music has been The DOC. My Goal was to be like the
D.O.C. The DOC was with NWA, but he barely cursed and his songs were
extremely lyrical. His presence amongst his peers made it ok for me
to be myself and never dumb myself down just because of my company.
The DOC sounded like he was from NYC, but his production was from the
west coast. It was a perfect marriage that I always wanted to
emulate.
Heron Gibran went to college for illustration and received his
masters in Digital Arts. And has been teaching art since 2003. Gibran
began teaching Special effects and 3D animation at Gibbs College in
VA. He moved on to teach k-12 at a special Education school in DC,
where he created his own art department and became the program
director of the digital arts department. Heron is currently the
illustrator for H.E.L.P. (Hip-Hop Educational Lyrics Program). The
workbooks take the lyrics of popular Hip-Hop songs and use them to
teach vocabulary and critical thinking. The program has been endorsed
by President Barack Obama and integrated in schools across America.
The Black Broadway Don mixtape is the Introduction into the world of
Heron Gibran. The project reflects the diverse tastes of Heron
Gibran. The sound travels across the borders with production from DJ
Khalil of Self Scientific (Any Means, Dance with Me, and The
Other Side) and Omar Retnu (Keep on Rocking featuring Asheru).
Making stops down south and as far as Amsterdam (The Light feat.
Complex). The project also has many collaborations with DC producers
such as Blackberry Jones (The Hustle), Decompose (Never Give Up), and
Y.U. of the Diamond District (Wish it away). Showing his hometown
influences Heron collaborates with Yazarah for a take on the Chuck
Brown Classic Run Joe. From the braggadocios What Do I Look Like
to the introspective Other Side Heron Gibran shows a unique
versatility. Amsterdams DJ Pay giving the project yet another unique
perspective hosts the mixtape.
The Hu-ron EP is a collaborative effort between Mr. Hu and Heron
Gibran. The project is nod to Hip-Hop albums of old that were
produced solely by one producer. The live sound of the Hu-ron EP
creates a warm soundscape for Heron to spread his message. The
six-song project is a focused effort dealing with themes of
self-determination and the urban struggle. The EP is a preview of
their full length LP due later this year.
Teen Choice Celebrity Lounge helping Animal Shelters
At Melanie Segal’s Celebrity Lounge presented by Rocket Dog (www.rocketdog.com) on Thursday and Friday, stars are helping raise awareness for the little known animal shelter disaster hitting the U.S. due to the economic crisis. At the event there will be dozens of pets from Tails of the City Animal Rescue (www.tailsofthecityrescue.com) at the lounge looking to be adopted into loving homes. Celebrity guests like Stevie Wonder, Bridget Marquardt, Jordana Brewster and AnnaLynne McCord will take photos with these pets to help get them be adopted more quickly.
Because of the California budget crisis and subsequent tax cuts, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has just ended a state mandate to hold animal shelter strays for six days, resulting in euthanizing more animals – some after just 3 days. Animal shelters have already been hit hard with overcrowding due to the weak economy and the housing crisis, and this has just made things much worse.
“Often, in times of crises, pets become the forgotten victims,” explains Melanie Segal, owner of Platinum Publicity, a full service PR company specializing in celebrity events and gifting. “Much of the population have been forced out of their homes due to foreclosures and have moved into apartments that don’t allow animals. They’ve had to give away their beloved pets to overcrowded shelters.” And now these shelters aren’t even required to keep dogs for a week before putting them to sleep.
But lounge sponsors such as Rocket Dog, Tivo and Jet Blue have come to the rescue. Tivo is having celebrity guests of the lounge sign Tivos to be donated to “Tails of the City” for auction. Jet Blue has provided the auction with airline tickets up for bidding.
In return for their support, celebrities will get loads of pampering and gifting. They’ll leave Melanie Segal’s Lounge wearing the latest Rocket Dog shoes, made with fashion forward teens who surf a wave as readily as they do the Web.
Some hot give away items include: New Clearasil Ultra® Pimple Blocker Pen guaranteed to get to work immediately to help stop a pimple in its tracks! Primp Clothing - a luxury knitwear company that combines comfort and style. Primp's trend- setting novelty prints and graphics make it irresistible to fashion forward women everywhere. Steven Shein Jewelry - a Los Angeles based line of colorful and innovative jewelry influenced equally by pop culture and formal design. Red Light Energy Drink - containing the complex, five-flavored schizandra berry, high in antioxidants and vitamin C, without excessive amounts of caffeine.
Other sponsors of Melanie Segal’s Celebrity Lounge presented by Rocket Dog include Dance Dance Revolution, Cosabella, Makeup Mandy, Jonathan Martin, Johnny Martin, Innex, Wellness Bags, Christy’s Hats, Energy Muse Jewelry, Dogswell, Greener Pup, Izze, ManiPedi Cutie, Bayer Teen Vitamins, The OC Dog Newspaper, Icelandic Glacial, Classic Photo Booth, Barts Carts, Perfekt Beauty and Honest Tea.

Comedian/ Satirist Shang Signs Deal with CodeBlack Entertainment
“Edgy, Political and Extremely Funny”-
Los Angeles - Comedian/satirist Shang has been venting across stages in America and beyond for almost two decades. Politically irreverent at times, cutting edge, insightful and inciting, his humor is known to cut like a sharp knife, revealing budding truths hidden just below the surface of what is seemingly real.
His brand is about to take on another dimension as Incite Talent Management (ITM) has announced a new deal with
Codeblack Entertainment. The signing includes the distribution and digital rights to past content owned by Shang in the form of CDs and DVDs as well as the inclusion of future content.
As Codeblack Entertainment is the nation's leading producer and distributor of urban themed content, the agreement represents yet another milestone in the evolution of Shang's comedic offerings. Shang will be recording and producing ringtones as part of the packaging as well as short video vignettes and sketches for airing on CodeblackTV. In addition, classics, such as Shang's debut CD, "Shangry!!" on Uproar Records will now be re-released and marketed.
A native of New York now residing in Los Angeles, Shang has cemented his position as one of the brightest and most stimulating funnymen in the business. His explosive political and social stances have earned him appearances on screens and stages that include Martin Lawrence's 1st Amendment Stand Up on STARZ, HBO's Aspen Comedy Festival Special "Best of the Fest," "Politically Incorrect," BBC's "Funny Business, " Mun2's "Loco Comedy Jam,"
NBC'S "Comedy Showcase," and MTV's "Choose or Lose" just to name a few.
He served as co-host on Russell Simmon's "One World Music Beat" and as co-producer and host of BET's "Access Granted" In addition to appearing regularly on BET's "Comic View." As the political and comedic voice of "Vote First" an initiative launched by the National Coalition on Black Civic Participation's (NCBCP) Unity '08 Campaign, Shang helped to spearhead a grassroots movement credited with propelling the hip hop generation to the polls to vote early in the last historical presidential election.
As Shang is known to irreverently point out, "These may be jokes but I ain't jokin'!" His searing observation about society, race, politics and sex reflect a path paved by comedic legends Lenny Bruce, Dick Gregory, Richard Pryor and George Carlin. With regard to Codeblack Entertainment, he reflects, ""It's great to be finally working with Codeblack, the #1 urban marketing company in the world. I appreciate their vision in bringing me on board. My humor is not for the weak- minded or the weak-hearted. It has always been my intention to incite change and this deal offers me yet more ammunition to be able to do so!"
Adds Michael J. Duarte, from ITM, "It is with great joy and excitement that I announce our partnership with Codeblack.
They are the leaders with what they do. The combination of Codeblack and Shang makes for a powerhouse presentation. Comedy may never be the same!"

D.A.R.E AMERICA AND WAVAFLOW STUDIOS AWARD DRUG FREE YOUTH WITH FREE ALBUM RECORDING
“Throughout my life, I’ve been known as "B. Arch" and with that name I’ve strived to not become a statistic. Some rappers glamorize money, cars, clothes and degrading women, but my main focus is to encourage greatness in everyone from all walks of life. In today’s world, my generation has stopped dreaming and I feel like my job is to get them to dream again. I want to be able to touch lives and if not change negative ways, be able to get through to listeners.”
These heartfelt words were part of the essay written by “B. Arch,” the aspiring young rapper who touched a chord with prolific Brazilian producer Wagner Fulco, owner of Wavaflow Studios. The well adjusted teen, although met with the same adversities as most young and underprivileged kids in and around Los Angeles, stepped up to the D.A.R.E challenge and is committed to making a change in his community by being a role model and remaining drug free. Personally understanding how hard it is to make your own way in this world while staying on the right path, producer extraordinaire Wagner Fulco willingly donated the use of his specially-renovated facility (home of the late, famed Brazilian singer/actress Carmen Miranda), as well as his services to help “B. Arch” produce a full album in his recording studios. It was important for Fulco to partner with an organization like D.A.R.E. because they are committed to showing young people that having a clear mind and clear objectives is the most effective course for achieving success, as he’s proven with his own arduous climb to success.
The contest was a search for a Los Angeles area youth (under 25), who is aspiring to have a career in the music business as an artist, but they also had to live a drug-free life. The ceremony, in which Brandon Archer will be presented with a certificate from the Executive Director & Chief Operating Officer of D.A.R.E, Frank Pegueros, will also include a tour of the facilities, and will take place at Wavaflow Studios, (address provided upon request) on Wednesday August 5, 2009 at 6pm. That is where Brandon will begin work on his first full length album which he hopes will inspire the masses.
For more information on D.A.R.E and the contest with Wavaflow visit http://www.dare.com/player/wavaflow.asp For more info on Wagner and Wavaflow studios visit www.wavaflow.com or www.wavarecords.com
ABOUT WAGNER FULCO - He is an accomplished instrumentalist/composer/producer/engineer. He opened WavaFlow Studios in LA in 2006 after renovating the former mansion of the late Brazilian singer/actress, Carmen Miranda and creating an amazing pre & post-production facility for musical recording as well as film/TV editing (www.wavaflow.com). Fulco recently started his own band called Machinery Kid, with former “Hearts” member on the drums and Jesse Johnson, son of Don Johnson, on vocals. He has been the regular guitarist for the likes of Antonio Banderas, Ricky Martin, Tracy Griffith and the Steve Vai Band amongst others and was also the recording engineer for Elton John, Ziggy Marley, Hans Zimmer, Alanis Morissette, Bob Dylan, Mike Procaro, Luciano Pavarotti, Alice in Chains to name a few.
ABOUT D.A.R.E. - D.A.R.E.'s primary mission is to provide children with the information and skills they need to live drug-and-violence-free lives. The mission is to equip kids with the tools that will enable them to avoid negative influences and instead, allow them to focus on their strengths and potential. And, that's exactly what D.A.R.E. is designed to do. Additionally, it establishes positive relationships between students and law enforcement, teachers, parents, and other community leaders. Every youngster should have the opportunity to grow-up healthy, safe, secure, and equipped with the skills needed to succeed in life. Contemporary America, however, is rampant with challenges that could keep children from a positive life path.
Crown City Rockers-The Day After Forever September 29, 09
September 29th, Gold Dust
http://www.myspace.com/crowncity
Bay Area true school hip-hop soldiers Crown City Rockers have linked with Brooklyn based Gold Dust to release their upcoming album, The Day After Forever. The first album since 2004's Earth Tones, the album represents the culmination of years thrilling fans on the road, fine tuning their sound, and collaborating with like minded hip-hop artists.
CCR have built a reputation for their driving sound derived from live instruments fused with traditional hip-hop production, which makes their live shows particularly dynamic. Emcee Rashaan Ahmad commands the crowd in the tradition of the block party greats, with a tight backing group infusing funk energy into the bouncy hip-hop sound.
Though the group has remained intact, the album represents a reunion of sorts, as many of the contributors have been focusing on solo projects recently. Rashaan Ahamad's solo album Push (2008) furthered his reputation as a party rocker par excellence, which he supported through tours with People Under The Stairs, Common Market, and others. Bassist/producer Headnodic recently helmed the boards for last year's Mighty Underdogs project on Definitive Jux with emcees Gift of Gab and Lateef from the Quannum camp, and keyboardist Kat recently completed a solo project and is currently working with People Under The Stairs' Thes One.
The Day After Forever will be followed by an extensive US tour. The first shows are at Treasure Island in October 17, 2009 http://www.treasureislandfestival.com/index.php
R&B SONGSTRESS TEAIRRA MARI ANNOUNCES OCTOBER 20TH AS THE RELEASE DATE FOR HER HIGHLY-ANTICIPATED NEW ALBUM
Mari first appeared on the scene when she joined forces with Jay-Z as the first artist signed under his reign as president of Def Jam Records. The duo paired for the smash single Make Her Feel Good, which reached #35 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #9 on the R&B Charts. Her debut album reached #5 on the Billboard 200 album charts and #2 on the R&B Charts as well. She has since collaborated with chart-topping artists such as Flo Rida, LL Cool J, Sammie, 3LW and others for music videos and spent what free time she had appearing alongside Jackie Long in the upcoming film "Doorman," and as spokesmodel for Jean Addicts. Now, with the fall release of At That Point, Teairra Mari is ready to take her place amongst the best R&B/Hip Hop artists of today.
The album's first single, Cause a Scene, debuted in early July as the first release under her new label, Warner Bros. Records, and the internet and radio are currently abuzz as it makes its way up the charts. This follows the success of promotional single Hunt 4 U back in January and extensive airplay for Diamonds, her duet with Kanye West. The rest of the album features collaborations with Flo Rida, Kanye, Pleasure P, Rick Ross, and Nicki Minaj, while producers include The Clutch, Underdogs, The Runners, Danja, Cory Bold, Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins, Eric Hudson, Ron "NEFF-U" Feemstar, The Movement, DJ Clue, Polow Da Don, Tony Dixon, Miscke, Tank, and Rico Love.
"At That Point features some of today's biggest artists, which is only fitting as the album will surely propel Teairra to the next level of her career: superstardom," It Girl PR President/ CEO Juliette Harris said. "Cause a Scene is just a taste of what is to come October 20th and in the future from this multi-talented, beautiful triple threat."

Warren G Returns With New Studio LP, The G Files, With Special Guests Snoop Dogg, Ray J & Travis Barker
With six LP’s already under his belt and 10 million copies sold worldwide, Warren G will release his seventh studio LP, The G Files, on 9-29-09. The album features the Snoop Dogg assisted lead-single, “Swagger Rich” and highlighted tracks, “Crush” with Ray J, “Let’s Get High (420)” with Black Nicc and guest Travis Barker on drums, “Suicide” with RBX and “100 Miles and Runnin” with Nate Dogg and Raekwon.
His laid back flow and production have made him an undisputed Hip-Hop legend, but those attributes and accomplishments have and always will certify multi-platinum rapper and producer, Warren G as a West Coast icon.
Warren G exploded out of the burgeoning Long Beach rap scene in 1994 and while many of his West Coast contemporaries such as Tupac, Dr. Dre, and Snoop signed record deals with LA's Death Row Records, Warren G took an alternative route and signed with Def Jam in New York, quickly proving he had something remarkable up his sleeve. His 1994 debut album, Regulate...G Funk Era, certified Warren G as a multi-platinum internationally acclaimed artist. He also received multiple award nominations (Grammy, American Music, Soul Train) for his smash hit “Regulate.”
Def Jam founder and the God Father of Hip Hop, Russell Simmons, would later cite Warren G's signing as “a turning point" for the storied Def Jam Records imprint and its subsequent mega-success. "After that, Def Jam never looked back," Simmons wrote in his book Life and Def. Likewise, as one of the first rap artists to appear on “The Late Show with David Letterman,” Warren G helped put the West Coast on the Hip-Hop map with his success and by nurturing the careers of many other talented artists that would follow in his path.
Subsequent albums Take a Look Over Your Shoulder (1997) and I Want It All (1999) were certified gold and generated hits "I Want It All" and "I Shot The Sheriff," a cover of Bob Marley's popular song by the same name. Warren’s 2001 release Return of the Regulator showcased his studio skills through working with legendary artists like Stevie Wonder and George Clinton (the two, alongside the late Tupac Shakur, are cited by Warren as some of the great highlights of his extensive collaborations over the years). In 2004, Warren reunited with his teenage group, 213, (which also features Snoop and Nate Dogg) to release Hard Way, which quickly went Gold and further cemented Warren’s legacy.
Warren’s musical accomplishments have also translated to the silver screen, where he made an unforgettable cameo in “Old School” and he has also appeared on numerous reality shows including VH1’s “Celebrity Fit Club” Flavor Flav’s “Flavor Of Love,” Ray J’s “For The Love Of Ray J” and he appeared as a mentor on “Celebrity Rap Superstar.” Warren has also appeared on television shows such as “The Parkers,” “Clueless” and “The Parent Hood” and contributed to countless movie soundtracks (including “Poetic Justice” “Above The Rim” “Bad Boys” “Barbershop 2”) and appeared on video games (NBA 09 and Def Jam Fight For NY).
Not only is Warren G back with The G Files, but the West is back!!

Cam'ron announces new label, roster, and new CEO, Omar "Iceman" Sharif

CAM'RON ANNOUNCES THE FORMATION OF U.N., DIPSET WEST, AND THE APPOINTMENT OF OMAR "ICEMAN" SHARIF AS ITS NEW CEO AND CO-OWNER.
After leaving the Dipset crew, Cam'ron returned in 2009 with his first solo album in three years, Crime Pays, and a new movement The U.N. andDipset West. Originally a co-founder of Dipset, Cam'ron calls his new company, The U.N. and its subdivision Dipset West, an expansion of the Dipset brand which now includes the music, film, and DVD sub-divisions. "When we started Dipset, it was more than just a crew, it was a movement. The U.N. is a continuation of that movement. Our new roster: Charlie Clips, Byrd Lady, Vado, Fly Boyz, Begetz and Young Hustle were all selected by me and my business partner, Omar "Iceman" Sharif. He has made his name in the music and film industries brokering and securing multi-million dollar deals, merging hip-hop with Hollywood. His experience is exactly what we need to make strategic connections at the next level," explains Cam'Ron.
Omar "Iceman" Sharif, CEO of The U.N. and partner/co-owner of its subdivision, Dipset West made his name brokering multi-million dollar deals in the film and music industries. In his career, he's executive produced over 40 albums with artists such as Onyx, ODB, Mariah Carey, Trey Lorenz, AZ, Sheek Louch, Hell Rell, Killah Priest, RZA, Sunz of Man, Loon, Slim Thug, and Xzibit. In 2000, before Koch Records (now E1) became a major independent recording powerhouse, Sharif secured a deal for Onyx member, Fredro Starr, one of the first deals for the newly formed label. In 2002, he brokered a ground-breaking multi-million distribution deal for Suge Knight's Death Row Records catalog to be distributed through Koch.
In film, Sharif made his name executive producing the longest running hip-hop documentary to date, American Rap Stars (2002) featuring Jay-Z, Run DMC, Russell Simmons, Rick Ruben, and Ludacris to name a few. In 2005, he released the follow-up Female American Rap Stars featuring Missy Elliot, MC Lyte, Eve, and more. Sharif also secured the $2 million dollar deal with Lions Gate for director/actor/rapper Sticky Fingaz's directorial debut, A Day in the Life featuring an all-star cast of Hollywood's elite actors such as Mekhi Phifer, Omar Epps, Michael Rapaport, Bokeem Woodbine, Drena De Niro (Robert's daughter), Tyrin Turner, Faizon Love, Fredro Starr, Troy Garity, Treach, Mike Williams and Malinda Williams just to name a few.
No stranger to the big screen himself, Cam'ron made his acting debut on the 2002 film Paid in Full, where he played the character Rico, based on former Harlem drug dealer Alpo. Fascinated with the creative process, in 2006, Cam'ron made his screenwriting and directorial debuts in the direct to video movieKilla Season. He played a high school basketball player who eventually drops out of high school to begin his own drug ring. The first installment sold over 200,000 DVDs.
While he sets his eye towards Hollywood, Cam'ron keeps a timb in the streets with several upcoming studio releases: The Gangsta Grillz Mixtapewith DJ Drama, U.N.'s debut album, solo albums for Vado, Begetz and ultimately a solo album from Cam himself. "We got a movie coming out called The Bakery and then we'll drop the second installment of Killa Season. We're also discussing the release of The Guy Fischer bio-pic." Guy Fischer is the convicted racketeer, once part of The Council, a notorious African-American crime organization, who controlled the heroin trade in Harlem from 1972-1983. "In between films, we'll keep the streets hot with The Gangsta Grillz Mixtape and we'll most likely release Vado's album immediately after. Vado got the streets on smash, and in Harlem, he's got an unbelievable buzz. Everybody in Harlem already knows what it is," expresses Cam'ron. "Between the films and the music coming soon on U.N. and Dipset West, we gonna keep the 'hood in a frenzy!"

MUSICAL LEGEND LIONEL RICHIE TO RECEIVE HIGHEST UNCF AWARD
International superstar and five-time Grammy award winner, Lionel Richie, will be honored by UNCF–the United Negro College Fund–at its 31st annual An Evening of Stars® (AEOS). The event will take place on September 12, 2009 at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium and will be televised nationwide in January 2010. The two-hour musical tribute will feature an array of artists performing the songs Richie has made famous. A graduate of Tuskegee University, a UNCF member university, Richie will receive UNCF’s Award of Excellence for his long and distinguished career as a singer-songwriter, record producer and for his history of support for minority education. He joins previous AEOS honorees Lou Rawls, Quincy Jones, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Smokey Robinson and Patti LaBelle. AEOS performers and participants will be announced in the coming weeks and tickets will be available for sale beginning Saturday, August 1st at Ticketmaster.com.
“Lionel Richie’s music makes up the sound track of our lives,” said Michael L. Lomax, Ph.D., president and CEO of UNCF. “He is a national treasure, and we’re proud to claim him, not only as a graduate of our storied member school, Tuskegee University, but as an artist of international renown and a longtime supporter of UNCF and the work we do to make sure that every child in America gets an education that starts in preschool and doesn’t end until college graduation.”
Lionel Richie has attracted a national and international following throughout his career as a member of a group and solo artist. He began his career in 1967 when he co-founded the sensational 70’s group The Commodores while he studied at Tuskegee. In 1971, the group signed a deal with Motown and went on to become one of the most popular U.S. funk bands of the 70’s. The Commodores were responsible for hits such as "Machine Gun" and "Brick House" before creating a slew of slow jam Richie-penned classics like "Easy," "Three Times a Lady" and "Sail On."
In 1980, Richie embarked on a solo career and began writing and producing albums for such 80’s superstars as Kenny Rogers and Diana Ross before releasing his own self-titled solo album in 1982. His quadruple platinum Motown debut set Lionel on a record-breaking path with the success of "Can't Slow Down" -- which won a Grammy for Album of the Year – and 1986's massively-successful "Dancing on the Ceiling." Richie also co-wrote the 1985 world anthem “We are the World” with Michael Jackson and produced by Quincy Jones for USA for Africa. The endeavor went on to raise over $65 million for the charity formed to raise money for famine relief efforts in drought ridden and politically unstable Ethiopia.
Richie recently released “Just Go,” his third Island Records album since 2001. On “Just Go,” he works with three of today’s hottest hitmakers Tricky Stewart & The Dream (Mariah Carey, Usher); Stargate (Ne-Yo, Shakira, Rihanna); and Akon, one of today’s most prolific performer-producers.
“Just Go” caps the most recent period of non-stop activity for the Alabama-born entertainer, whose many career accomplishments include five Grammy Awards, an Oscar, eleven American Music Awards, five People’s Choice Awards, a “World Music Lifetime Achievement Award” and a much-deserved Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Richie, whose timeless compositions have become synonymous with American music, has managed a long and successful career in an industry that can be fickle and often favors the new.
Returning for his 13th year as executive producer and director of “An Evening of Stars®” benefiting UNCF is six-time Emmy Award winner Louis J. Horvitz. One of the industry’s most accomplished and sought-after live television producer/ directors, Horvitz has directed the annual Academy Awards® telecast for 13 years. He has also helmed the “Prime Time Emmy Awards®” a total of 14 times, directed The Kennedy Center Honors® for 16 years and the American Film Institute (AFI) Life Achievement Award tributes a total of 18 times.
