Slip-N-Slide Records introduces in house team of hit making producers
Florida native CP Hollywood grew up in a single family household for most of his life and was raised by his father. After graduating from college, CP Hollywood began giving out beats which soon led to him selling the beats to other producers and rappers. After producing Unda Surveillance’s “On Deck”, one of the biggest radio and club anthems in Florida, CP Hollywood was signed to Slip-N-Slide Records as an in‐house producer. CP Hollywood has worked with some of music’s finest entertainers including Young Bloodz, Pitbull, Hurricane Chris, Pleasure P, Rick Ross, Unda Surveillance and Ballgreezy amongst many others. CP Hollywood is definitely a gifted producer.
Born in Germany to a military family that loved music, DJ Ave Mcree soon picked up on his musical capabilities at an early age. His family was relocated to Georgia when he was 6 years old. While in high school, DJ Ave Mcree began focusing on DJ’ing and paying close attention to DJ Grand Master Flash & DJ Magic Mike. Word spread about this “hot DJ” and he was invited to do major events along the East Coast. He has worked with musical greats such as George Clinton, DJ Unk and Eight Ball & MJG, along with other heavyweights. See the creative mind of DJ Ave Mcree unfold to its highest potential as one of the in-house producers with Slip-N-Slide Records this year.
Music and the theory of art has been the primary influence on VAKSEEN’s life from an early age. The Georgia native fell in love with Hip Hop at an early age. In high school, VAKSEEN began to focus more on his craft and spent nearly 10 years as a rapper/writer in Hip Hop group “The Shaw Shanks”. VAKSEEN’s love for music developed into a full time hobby and ultimately he forged ahead and pursued a fulltime career in the music industry. VAKSEEN produced the leading street single for Yung Joc’s new release, entitled “Posted at the Store", which features Gucci Mane and Yung Ralph. VAKSEEN also produced “Pulling Me Back” from Jim Jones’ newest release “Pray IV Reign”. VAKSEEN has also worked alongside G-Unit, Black Wall Street, and others just to name a few. VAKSEEN was signed as an in‐house producer for Slip-N-Slide Records in late 2008. VAKSEEN consists of Otha “VAKSEEN” Davis III, The TrackSlayerz (Inf & Price) and C-Tease. Expect to hear a lot more from this talented group in 2009.
A young businessman, rapper, producer, and trend-setter, Chicago native Hollywood J is on the rise in the Music Industry. When relocating to Georgia, Hollywood J teamed up with a rap trio called “The Teamstaz” and they began taking their careers to the next level. Soon, Hollywood J began re-making radio hits and adding his "touch" on the records. He made a big internet buzz with his remix to Gorilla Zoe's hit record "Hood Figga" as well as remixes from Omarion, T.I. and Yung Joc, to name a few. Hollywood J has been hard at work with his music and has recently signed to Slip-N-Slide Records as an in-house producer. He is currently working on several tracks with a wide variety of artists stretching his name and resume from the dirty south all the way to the west coast. Hollywood J is set to be a monster in this game!

Lil RU Signs to Def Jam | Debut Album '21 and Up' In Stores & Online July 7th
“Nasty Song,” the Def Jam debut of Lil RU – which impacted at Urban radio in April – is making its way out of the Deep South and up the nationwide Mediabase Urban chart, hitting #36-bullet this week with a 2.5 million audience, and 4 million audience overall. At Lil RU’s MySpace site, http://www.myspace.com/lilruhoodhard - which began its fourth year on the web last month – “Nasty Song” has amassed a phenomenal 3.2 million plays.
“Nasty Song” is the first single from Lil RU’s long-awaited debut album, 21 & UP, set for July 7th release in the physical and digital marketplace. For Lil RU, who has been at it for nearly a decade – and has experienced short-term deals along the way with Elektra and Capitol Records – the album is the culmination of a hard life on his own: growing up on the streets with a mother currently incarcerated for manslaughter, and a father who has never been around.
“I feel like the album represents everything it takes to be a man,” he says. “Whether you’re in the club, the streets, or just struggling all around. People are going to relate.” In “Life,” Lil RU details the trials and tribulations of his younger life and how his mom’s absence affected his childhood. “Like Dat” lightens the mood as Ru goes out of his way to please the ladies. The party continues with “Yeah That’s Money,” celebrating the finer things in life.
“Never having that stable background or that family, I was alone a lot,” says Lil Ru. “I was able to make a situation happen with my music and I was able to feed myself and family off of that,” he concludes. “Music always had me first, I always stayed focused on that.”
Former Interscope And Warner Bros. Executive Kevin Black Joins Global Music Group
“Kevin is one-third owner of Global Music Group along with Mike Wilson and Myself, and is the Chief Operations Officer. He is number one in urban music and we are going to the top,” said Mr. Turner. His track record in music has resulted in breaking some of the biggest names in Urban and Hip-Hop over the past decade.
Former Warner Bros. Senior Executive, Mr. Black, exited his post as chairman of urban music at Warner Bros. in November 2008. Two years after joining the label, prior to leaving his post as Vice President of rap at Interscope Records. There he assisted in the multi-platinum success of Eminem, 50 Cent, Dr. Dre, Eve, Black Eyed Peas, and The Game. Winning the Urban Hit-Maker Award at the 9th Annual Multicultural Prism Awards Gala in 2004, for re-structuring the department and guiding the company to unprecedented success.
Black, began his career as National Director of Promotions at Death Row Records, before moving onto EMI, Virgin, A&M, Interscope and Warner Bros.
The new appointment follows a recent expansion at Global Music Group, a Delaware corporation headquartered in Alabama, with offices now in Los Angeles, New York, and divisions in Canada and Europe, headed by Cliff Wise, CEO, Global Music Group Canada and Scott Shephard, President/CEO, Global Music Group Europe.
The label which operates several lines of business as divisions became known in June 2008, when its New York arm, submitted the winning bid, an offer of $24 million dollars, to acquire the Assets of Death Row Records. However, in December 2008, the label announced that it was seeking a buyer for Death Row, with the assets being auctioned again, for $18 million to a Canadian firm. Ron Bush, representative of Global Music Group New York, said today, “We are taking care of other details right now. We aren't involved in Death Row Records now.”
Global Music Group releases include musical gems ranging from British rapper Mark Morrison, an all-women country band from Nashville Mustang Sally (street date: August 2009), to R&B songstress Lil’ Mo (street date: September 2009).
Global Music Group is distributed by Fontana/Universal.

Are Black People Stupid?
Since I live in the New York City area, I am being told, indirectly, that I HAVE to vote for Comptroller William Thompson for mayor because, as a Black man, I have to support him. And although Governor Patterson is not doing such a great job, I MUST vote for him for re-election because, hey, he's Black! And you do know that Barack Obama is a Black man, so we MUST continue the trend of electing Blacks to office!
Now, don't get me wrong, I am a GREAT supporter of Black people, but, I am a BETTER supporter of people who will do a great job for me when they get in office. If I had a choice to vote based on race versus based on getting the job done, I am voting based on the latter, but hopefully, the candidate would be both.
So, all I am saying is, we, as Black people, are being viewed as not being smart enough to make the right choice for ourselves. It seems that even Black politicians want us to vote simply based on the pigment of the skin or the cultural aspects of the candidate. I say, as I do, base any vote on who you feel would do the best job out of the candidates and with all things being equal, then racial pride would win, otherwise, we can't let people do our thinking for us! We need to research and listen and read up on ALL candidates for any office that is being pursued as all decisions based on the winning candidates WILL affect our lives, which makes it that much more important to be educated not forced to pick our own candidate.
So, all I am asking is for Black candidates to not anticipate just getting our votes based on the fact that you are Black as well and put forth the effort to prove to us that you are qualified for the job. And Black people, stop going with the theory of voting based on skin color because, believe it or not, there ARE stupid black politicians out there....

Main Entry: Don

1: [Italian, title of respect, literally, lord, from Latin dominus] : a powerful leader.
When it comes to the West Coast, few artists hold a legendary status and can refer themselves to as a don. Cube. Dre. Snoop. E-40. $hort. But now, one other west coast OG is looking to add his name to that list as Yukmouth prepares to release his 5th studio album “The West Coast Don”.
Pulling out all stops, Yuk enlists some of the industry’s current heavy weights. SOULSTICE RETURNS WITH INTERNATIONAL CONCEPT ALBUM
As SoulStice explains “the project is a collaboration between myself and Belgian beatmaker, SBe, who provides all of the instrumental music for the album. As far as the vocals, the songs are collaborations between myself and many of my favorite artists from around the world. We've got artists from the US, UK, Germany, Ireland, Netherlands, Belgium, Africa, and Canada. The first time I ever traveled abroad was a trip I took Russia in 2000. The fact that the globalization of hip hop had reached all the way there really made an impression on me. Since then I've grown as an artist and have toured around the world, seeing firsthand how hip hop, as a US cultural export, has grown and become something new and different in these various places. Yet, the underlying theme is the same everywhere: hip hop continues to be the mouthpiece for people who exist outside of the mainstream to make their voices heard throughout society and around the world.
These songs and the ideas they contain were the result of studio sessions in Maryland, Belgium, Chicago, Paris, New York and many other places, late nights at SBe's house in Ghent, photo sessions, international phone calls and text messages, and long flights overseas to perform in Europe, Japan and Mexico.”
Beyond Borders will be released on June 23rd, 2009 and will feature appearances from G.L.C., Oddisee, Kev Brown, Supastition, Wordsmith and Zap Mama and is entirely produced by SBe.

FABOLOUS CHRONICLES HIS LIFE ON "LOSO'S WAY"; NEW ALBUM SET FOR 6/30 RELEASE
Underscoring the autobiographical portrait of LOSO’S WAY is Fab’s first long-form video project, a 30-minute film to be released in conjunction with the album. Several trailers from the film have been released, creating a huge buzz for the project online. Known for keeping his personal life separate from his rap career, Fab was inspired by Carlito’s Way (Al Pacino), as he told SOHH.com recently: “I think we had some similarities. Carlito was a street dude trying to make the transition from the streets to something better. That’s where I felt I was at....transitioning from the streets to a hip-hop artist.”
In advance of LOSO’S WAY, two singles are building simultaneously at radio: “Throw It In The Bag” featuring fellow Def Jam artist The-Dream (produced by Tricky Stewart) was #1 Most-Added at Rhythm formats; and “It’s My Time” featuring brand new Def Jam artist Jeremih (produced by the Runners) is currently exploding at the Urban format. Videos for both singles premiered across multiple MTV channels last week. Fabolous will be performing with Ne-Yo at the BET Awards in Los Angeles on June 28th.
The initial track sequence for LOSO’S WAY (followed by producer credits) comprises:
1. The Way “Intro” Produced by Streetrunner
2. Feel Like I’m Back – Produced by Justice League
3. My Time feat Jeremih Produced by The Runners
4. Imma Do It featuring Kobe Produced by Khalil
5. Everything, Everyday, Everywhere feat Keri Hilson – Produced by Ryan Leslie
6. Throw It In The Bag feat The Dream – Produced by Tricky
7. When The Money Goes - Remix feat Jay-Z Produced by Jermaine Dupri
8. Salute feat Lil Wayne – Produced by Miguel
9. There He Go Featuring Paul Cain, Red Café and Freck Billionaire– Produced by THE BLACKOUT MOVEMENT
10. The Fabolous Life feat Ryan Leslie – Produced by Ryan Leslie
11. Makin Love feat Ne-Yo – Produced by Jermaine Dupri
12. Last Time feat Trey Songz – Produced by Jermaine Dupri
13. Stay feat Marsha Ambrosius Produced by Syience
14. Pachanga Produced by Sid V
15. Lullaby Produced by Alchemist
16. Never Let It Go Featuring Keys Produced by Khalil
17. I Miss My Love Produced by Sean C. and L.V.
LOSO’S WAY is the long-awaited follow-up to From Nothing To Something, Fab’s RIAA gold Def Jam debut album (released June 2007), his first album in nearly three years at the time of its release. From Nothin To Somethin gave Fabolous the first #1 debuts of his career on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and Top Rap Albums charts, on the strength of two advance singles: “Diamonds” featuring Def Jam artist Young Jeezy (produced by Steve Morales); and the RIAA platinum #1 rap/R&B/pop crossover smash “Make Me Better” featuring Def Jam artist Ne-Yo (produced by Timbaland), which made history when it took over the #1 Urban spot from fellow Def Jam artist Rihanna’s “Umbrella” back in 2007.
Background: Starting in 2001, Bed-Stuy’s Fabolous (John Jackson) was featured on several singles and album tracks, most notably Lil’ Mo’s Top 10 crossover hit “Superwoman.” Fab’s singles chart debut happened that summer with his career-defining “Can’t Deny It,” featur-ing Nate Dogg, on Desert Storm (via Elektra’s East-West division). It was followed by the second solid pop/R&B/rap crossover “Young’n (Holla Back),” both from the nearly self-titled debut album Ghetto Fabolous (one of the fateful albums to be released Sept. 11, 2001), which reached #2 R&B and #4 pop, and was certified RIAA platinum.
In early-2002, the Barbershop movie soundtrack album spun off a new Top 20 hit by Fabolous, “Trade It All” (featuring P. Diddy and Jagged Edge). The track was later added as a bonus track on Street Dreams, Fab’s second Desert Storm album, released March 2003. The platinum album also contained the massive Top 5 hits “Can’t Let You Go” (featuring Lil’ Mo and Desert Storm’s Mike Shorey) and “Into You” (featuring Tamia). The subsequent mixtape released in November, More Street Dreams Pt. 2, climbed to Top 10 R&B and Top 30 pop.
Fab’s final entry for the label was his third album, Real Talk (November 2004). The RIAA gold album rose to #2 on the R&B and rap charts, and #6 on the pop side in the wake of its breakout first single, “Breathe,” which crossed from #2 rap and #4 R&B to Top 10 pop. After more than two and a half years, Fab returned with From Nothin To Somethin, igniting the next phase of his career at Def Jam Recordings.

F.L.Y. – FAST LIFE YOUNGSTAZ – “SWAG SURFIN’” OUTTA THE SOUTH WITH 2009’s TOP DANCEFLOOR PHENOM!
In the two months since “Swag Surfin’” impacted at Urban and Rhythmic radio in, it has grown to 11.3 million audience and sold more than 48,000 digital copies. The track jumped to #18-bullet (from #24-bullet) last week on the Urban Mediabase side. “Swag Surfin’” is viral on the Internet – over 2.1 million audio plays on MySpace, while the video has posted over 144,000 views at YouTube, over 46,000 views posted at MySpace, and so on.
“If you go on YouTube and type in ‘Swag Surfin’,” says Mook, “you’ll see videos of people inside clubs going from side to side in a wavy motion, surfin’.” What started in the clubs has moved into the light: “We got bands, drill teams and college basketball teams playing it before they run out for their games. The Atlanta Hawks come out to ‘Swag Surfin’’ now too. It’s just a whole buzz we have that’s building up.”
F.L.Y. – 21 year-old rapper Mook, Myko McFly (20) and Vee (22) – natives of Stone Mountain, Georgia, saw their melodic sing-song track build from a fresh sound down South less than one year ago. It didn’t take long for IDJ Chairman Antonio ‘L.A.’ Reid to catch the “Swag Surfin’” wave and bring the guys up to New York. The phone call came in January, and F.L.Y. found themselves showcasing for Mr. Reid less than 24 hours later. “We made sure we gave L.A. Reid the best show he’d ever seen,” Mook understates.
Among the new and upcoming producers that F.L.Y. is working with on JAMBOREE is Kevin “KE on The Track” Erondu. In addition to “Swag Surfin’,” KE produced “Bands,” in which F.L.Y. plays off the kinetic energy of collegiate halftime shows. “The beat itself sounds like you’re in the band room at a HBCU football game,” says Mook, invoking the circuit of ‘historically black colleges and universities’ across the south. “I believe the rest of the country will catch on to the F.L.Y. movement because it’s like a wave,” Vee concludes. “And you don’t want to be left out or you’ll drown.”
