DUBOSE MUSIC GROUP SIGNS MC LYTE AS EXECUTIVE VICE-PRESIDENT

MC Lyte has joined DuBose Music Group, a division of DuBose Entertainment, as Executive Vice President of the burgeoning music entity. James DuBose, CEO of DuBose Entertainment announced that the recording artist, writer and Hip Hop legend has been tapped to shepherd DMG’s talent acquisitions and artist development.

"Lyte is a rap music icon and music scholar with a wealth of industry connections and an extensive knowledge of urban music," said DuBose. "With Lyte at the helm, DMG is perfectly positioned to usher in the next generation of artists and influence a new generation of music fans.”
 
As her first major deal since joining DMG, Lyte announced the signing of Tenille Johnson, a fresh, young 20-year-old singer-songwriter, who writes about relationships, love, love lost and possesses a confident and alluring style that has just the right amount of sexy.  The Atlanta native has already completed recording several titles for her debut album.

“At DMG, we will provide artists like Tenille a platform to showcase their talent and to grow into bona fide R&B superstars,” said Lyte. “I’m thrilled to be working with DuBose to bring soul music to music lovers young and old.”

Also set to release later this year, DMG will distribute Lyte’s latest CD under the current working title “The Second Coming.” The upcoming CD reflects the influence of Brooklyn’s West Indian culture on the Brooklyn native and delivers on the hard potent lyrics for the “Lyte as a Rock” fans.

Though this will be her first role calling the shots at a music label, Lyte has been making a name for herself in music since her first full length album “Lyte as a Rock” was released in 1988. She is considered to be a female rap music icon that blazed the trail for future female rappers such as Queen Latifah and Missy Elliot.  Lyte is also known as one of the first female rappers to lyrically take on the rampant sexism and misogyny that predominates hip hop. In an interesting twist on the old adage of “life imitating art,” Lyte portrayed a hip music executive on the UPN series “Half n Half” for three years.
